Every sale, purchase, payslip, asset and bank line posts to one general ledger. This page shows what BYTE does with that ledger: the entries, the bank, the tax, the assets and the costs, and the controls around them.

  • One general ledger
  • UAE and Jordan tax packs
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Multi-branch
  • Profit and loss by dimension

Ledger and reports

Every document posts to one general ledger, so the reports agree with the invoices, bills and payslips behind them. Post the period, check the trial balance, then read the balance sheet.

  • General ledger: every posted line, by account, branch and dimension.
  • Trial balance and balance sheet for the period you choose.
  • Opening balances for each branch, and a year-end close.
  • Recurring journals repeat your standard entries, and manual journals wait for approval.

Bank and cash

Reconcile each bank account against its ledger account, one statement at a time. The bridge between the book and bank balances is shown, and open items carry forward to the next period.

  1. Import the statement from a CSV file, with the columns you set.
  2. Match each statement line to its ledger entry. Groups of lines can match a group of entries.
  3. Post bank charges and interest as adjustments, so the books match the bank.
  4. Finalize the period. Open items carry forward, and the difference shows zero when the bridge ties.
Example

A bank fee of 15 appears on the statement but not in the ledger. Post it as an adjustment, and the book and bank balances agree.

Sales and purchases

Quote, invoice and collect on the sales side. Order, receive and pay on the purchase side. Each document carries its tax code and posts to the ledger.

Sales invoices

Issue and void invoices. Each branch keeps its own statutory numbers, and the print copy is frozen at issue.

Credit and debit notes

Correct an invoice with a credit note, raise a debit note, and record refunds.

Terms and instalments

Set payment terms for each customer, split a balance into instalments, and give early-payment discounts.

Aging and statements

See what each customer owes by age, and the statement for any period.

Bills and payments

Record supplier bills, allocate each payment to the bills it settles, and run batch payments to several suppliers at once.

Quotations and purchase orders

Quote before the sale, and record the customer's purchase order before the goods leave.

Tax

Tax is set line by line, so one invoice can carry more than one rate. The codes follow the company's VAT registration, and each country has its own tax pack.

  • Tax codes on every sales invoice, supplier bill and order.
  • A registration gate, so the codes match the company's VAT status.
  • Jordan and UAE tax packs, and withholding tax.
  • The UAE VAT return, reconciled to the ledger.
Example

An invoice has a consulting line at the UAE standard rate of 5% and an export line at 0%. Each line is taxed on its own, and the VAT total follows the lines.

Fixed assets

Register each asset once. A depreciation run works out the charge for each period, and you check the run as a draft before you execute it.

  • An asset register with classes, and each class mapped to its accounts.
  • Depreciation runs by period: draft first, then execute, with one voucher per branch.
  • Four methods: straight-line, declining balance, units of production and manual.
  • Capitalise bill purchases, and track construction in progress until it is settled.
  • Disposals and corrections, with a reconciliation to the asset accounts.

Costs and dimensions

Tag each line with the branch, department, project or machine it belongs to. The profit and loss and the budgets read the tags, so one ledger answers many questions.

Dimension tags

Tag journal lines with a branch, department, project or machine.

Profit and loss by dimension

Read the profit and loss by any tag, not only by account.

Roll-up in four levels

Group tags under parents, such as a region over its branches, up to four levels deep.

Splits across projects and machines

Split an invoice or bill line across projects, machines or departments, and split one salary across machines.

Controls

Decide who can see and change what, and keep a record of every change.

Roles and permissions

Each role sees and changes only the modules you allow.

Audit log

Every change is recorded in the audit log.

Sign-in with an authenticator app

Sign in with one-time codes from an authenticator app (TOTP).

Branches with their own numbers

Each branch keeps its own invoice numbers, payroll and asset postings.

Ask us before you decide

  • Ask for a demo of one month close, from the bank statement to the trial balance and the tax return.
  • Ask how an invoice with several tax codes is calculated, and see it on screen.
  • Ask which of these features are confirmed for your business before you decide.
