Inventory in BYTE: stock across warehouses

Know what you hold, where it is and what it is worth. Stock moves between warehouses, counts are recorded, and stock value is posted to the ledger.

Last updated: 27 October 2026

What it covers

  • Stock across warehouses, with movements, transfers, counts and adjustments.
  • Purchase orders received in full or in part, with a goods-received bridge to the ledger.
  • Customer orders, with reserve, pick and dispatch, and a tax invoice when the goods leave.
  • Assembly and bills of materials for production.
  • Supplier returns.
  • Negative stock: you choose whether a sale below zero is warned about or blocked. The default allows it.

How it works

  1. Receive goods against a purchase order, in full or in part.
  2. Move stock between warehouses, or count it and post the adjustment.
  3. Dispatch a customer order. The tax invoice is issued at dispatch.

Can BYTE stop a sale when stock is short?

Yes, if you choose to block negative stock. By default, the sale is allowed and you get a warning.

Does BYTE support barcode scanning?

Not yet. Barcode scanning is planned.
